The author was among the very first combat officers to arrive on the island of Kyushu, one of the islands of Japan, immediately following the signing of the peace aboard the USS Missouri on 9/3/45. The Japanese civilians had been propagandized for years what monsters Americans were. This story went around the Air Base about a very innocent pilot too young to get a driver's license back home in a poker game had won a Geisha House. If, indeed, he were to fall in love with one of the adorable, feminine young ladies, trained to tend to a man's every wish, what effect that would have on him which, in turn, would have influence on her. Also, what would the officers in that command do about all this an American officer owning a geisha house? Add to that, the Stateside Commanders, officers who spent the whole war in the Training Command back home, who were sent overseas to relieve men with combat points,' who were ready to get back home. Also, add to relaxed, free-wheeling combat troops, these spit & polish' commanders who wanted to run their new commands by the book.' This story is all about mixing those two sets of complete opposites and this is one result.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Of the many dynamic, young playwrights to be associated with the “In-Yer-Face” burst of creative talent on the British stage in the mid–1990s, Joe Penhall has challenged Britain’s status quo the most. Penhall believes his plays should constantly provoke and enrage not only the institutions he targets, but also his audience. This critical book discusses the argumentative nature of Penhall’s plays, while also placing them within the context of contemporary British society and the modern dramatic tradition. His eight plays are discussed in detail, and particular attention is paid to male identity, the nature of grief, the variety of females, domestic drama, and the role of autobiography in his work.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Each person is an enigma. Youre a puzzle not only to yourself but also to everyone else, and the great mystery of our time is how we penetrate this puzzle. We are social animals, and unless we engage God, we can never resolve and understand the truth that lies at the bottom of an enigma of interdependence relationship. A legendary poet wrote, People are fascinating. Theyre so unique and I think whats more fascinating is the reason behind the physical characteristic, the enigma, thats where the gold dust is. Life is never a mystery and a harmful enigma unless we try to interpret it from our human brand or prospective as though it had no underlying truth. The reality is that every person believes in something (be it true or false). Our beliefs modify our behavior. I have put together this journal for you with epic passion projecting the phenomenal person that God intended you to be. Wrong perception of life issues makes man a wrong person. It is my prayer that by reading this book you will be enlightened and inspired to solve the puzzle of life from the prospective of the Creator of life. Certainly, the most important thing that God can give to us is the truth about life. God created us to live passionately but not passively. That is why he instructed us to love him with all our hearts and to love our neighbors as we love our selves.

Spanning more than one hundred years, Pursuing a Better Tomorrow, is not just a memoir that portrays the history of three generations, but rather an inspiring cross-generational journey from Spain to the US. Four interconnected stories focus on one of the main characters in a given era. Their personal stories illustrate the challenges and opportunities of immigration, acculturation, coming of age, and self-discovery through the characters’ psychological and moral growth. The characters portray the strength of character required to achieve a better tomorrow given the twists, turns, and synchronistic events that shaped their lives. The novel transports the reader to a time long forgotten with a readable historical overview of the Taíno, the conquistadors, early settlers, the Spanish Empire, and the Dominican Republic, interspersed within the narrative through the perspective of the character of the era. De La Rosa candidly shares her coming-of-age story of self-discovery as she transitioned from New York City’s projects to corporate America, detailing her personal and professional journey. From humble beginnings—and despite a myriad of challenges—unfolded a life of untold blessings and opportunities. “Pursuing a Better Tomorrow is entertaining as well as inspiring. The author’s tone is motivating.... offers a balanced view of immigration and all that it entails.” —OnlineBookClub.org Blanca De La Rosa was born in the Dominican Republic and raised in New York City’s public housing, attended public high school, and graduated from Pace University. Then, he follows with a selection of religion tenured poems ranging from the obtuse to the obvious. He goes on to show us a look inward into his life and people's reactions, to his speech impediments and bent body, that he has had to enlighten and change with his lifelong-learned teachings, and amazing understanding. He, then, continues with a selection of assorted poems that range from the comical to the serious aspects of life, followed by a few poems that take a surreal look at the world. Poetic Pete then welcomes us with several of his latest lyrics spanning subjects such as love, heartbreak, and even politics. And in conclusion, he ends the book with a couple short stories
